Exhibition I #MyEaling
We have been blown away by the sheer number of stunning entries to our children’s summer art competition – now come and see them!
We are thrilled to announce that our children’s art exhibition, celebrating the best of Ealing, is now officially open.
Earlier this summer we asked local kids and young people aged 3-16 to draw or paint their favourite bits of the borough, for a competition to win a place in a very special summer show.
In the event, we were blown away by the sheer number of beautiful entries – showcasing everything from collage to watercolour, pen and ink to pastels, and capturing the full breadth of our leafy corner of London.
It was an incredibly tough task to pick two overall winners and runners-up, and even to select the 36 works to be framed and hung on the wall. But, after much deliberation, we are now delighted to reveal that the winners are:
In the 3-9-year old category
The winner is Sophie Choi, 8, with her glorious painting of Walpole Park’s pond and fountain.
In second place is Eliza McDonald, 9, whose splendid mixed media artwork captures ‘The Family’ sculpture (by Welsh artist Robert Thomas) in the Broadway Shopping Centre, Ealing.
In the 10-16-year-old category
The winner is Romy Cornec, 12, with her stunning collage and mixed media vision of Walpole Park’s stone bridge.
In second place is Grace Simpson, 11, who celebrates Ealing wildlife with her beautiful collaged butterfly backed by a map of the borough.
Congratulations to all four super-talented young artists, whose works now take pride of place for the summer in our gallery window.
Meanwhile, we felt that none of the amazing work we received should go unrewarded or unseen, so alongside the framed pieces on show we decided to mount all of the pictures for display in our browsers.
The exhibition, #MyEaling, is open in our lower gallery for the duration of the summer to August 25. So do pop by and enjoy this gorgeous celebration of our neighbourhood and its budding young talent. #MyEaling, For Arts Sake, to August 25, 45 Bond Street, Ealing, W5 5AS
