Steve Edwards
In 1980 Steve started a BA in Textile Design at Camberwell and was introduced to printmaking as part of the course, mainly creating silkscreens and monoprints. He took up printmaking again in 1998 at the City Lit and fell in love with etching. Steve joined East London Printmakers in 2003, which gave him access to a well-equipped studio and a vibrant artistic community. He started experimenting with lino in 2005, and this has now become his main mode of expression. Steve joined Greenwich Printmakers in 2011 and the Printmakers Council in 2013.
The main themes in Steve's work are masculinity in all its forms,
and landscapes, particularly cityscapes. Living in London for 30 years has given him many opportunities for observing the city and its multi-various moods. As this thematic series has grown, Steve has become interested in the dialogue between the sky and the buildings beneath.
